Alumni, eligible students can order class ring

by Greg Scott

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Alumni and eligible students of Southern Illinois University Carbondale can purchase a class ring that forever commemorates their college experience.

Orders for The Official SIU Class Ring will be taken from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 5, and Friday, Oct. 6, at the University Bookstore in the SIUC Student Center.

Class ring orders will also be accepted Saturday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., during the SIU Alumni Association's Homecoming Celebration, under the Alumni "Big" Tent, east of McAndrew Stadium.

The ring is on display in the University Bookstore. It can also be viewed in the SIU Alumni Association offices, located on the second floor of the Student Center and Colyer Hall on campus.

SIUC's ring was designed exclusively for those who meet the University's academic standards. Only SIUC alumni and students who have earned at least junior status by completing 56 credit hours at the University are eligible to order rings.

Class rings will be presented to students at a ceremony hosted by the University and the Alumni Association during Honors Day weekend. The ceremony will take place Friday, April 13, in the Student Center Auditorium.

Ring sales will help fund student and alumni programs coordinated by the SIU Alumni Association.
