Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred at 9:36 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 31, northwest of Mae Smith Residence Hall on East Park Street.
A 19-year-old SIUC student told police that three black males approached him. One of the suspects took the victim’s cellular telephone from his left front pants pocket while the two other suspects held the victim. The three suspects then walked east on Park Street away from the residence hall.
The victim was not injured and did not require medical attention. The suspects did not display any weapons.
The suspect who took the victim’s cellular telephone is described as a black male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing a hat turned backward with an unknown emblem or writing. He was wearing an oversized white T-shirt that hung below his waistband. No description is available for the other two suspects.
