Community members can sit in on classes

by Carmen Bell

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Community Listener's Permit Program is a special non-credit program that provides an opportunity to participate in credit courses in a non-stressful manner, without examinations or grades. Anyone who is not currently enrolled for credit in any University-level course can participate for $25 per class.

This program will take place Aug. 21 through December. With the instructor's consent, community members may participate in most SIUC credit courses, as well as have access to the University Career Center, and a Morris Library Courtesy Card.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about interesting subjects while not taking examinations or paying the full tuition. For more information, contact SIUC's Division of Continuing Education at 618/536-7751 or visit www.dce.siu.edu.

Providing both traditional and continuing education opportunities is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint the University is following as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019.
