Alumni events set for Sept. 8-9 in Atlanta
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale alumni living in the Atlanta area will receive plenty of opportunities to meet and mingle with fellow Salukis, Sept. 8 and 9.
Activities begin on Sept. 8 with a Saluki Networking Social Reception at Frankie's Sports Grill at 5600 Roswell Road in Atlanta. Guests can enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, including drink specials, in addition to the company of fellow SIUC graduates.
The following day, SIUC alumni are invited to SIU Day at Turner Field in Atlanta. The defending National League East Champion Atlanta Braves host the Chicago Cubs. Activities begin with a pre-game gathering at 5:05 p.m., in the Hank Aaron Room of Turner Field. The menu includes beef ballpark franks with relish, sauerkraut, and green cabbage slaw, served with potato chips and onion dip. Guests also receive a bottle of ice-cold water and a soda.
The Braves-Cubs game follows at 7:05 p.m. Seating will be in the Pavilion Outfield.
Costs to attend the reception and game are $39 per Association member; $43 for non-members. For an additional $6.25, guests can enjoy a 21-ounce draft. Membership is open to alumni, students, and friends of SIUC. Annual membership is $40, while life membership is $500 with installment plans available.
