Accounting faculty, students capture honors

 CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale's School of Accountancy, part of the College of Business and Administration, honored students and faculty members during its annual spring recognition and awards banquet, held April 28.

Faculty honors included: Catherine Lumbattis, KPMG LLP Outstanding Instructor in Accounting Award; Randall Hahn, KPMG LLP Outstanding Contribution to the School of Accountancy Award; Jake Rose, KPMG LLP Outstanding Professor in Accounting Award; Allan Karnes, KPMG LLP Tax Research Professor; and Raymond Wacker, Emerson Electric/Charles Groennert Teaching Excellence Professor.

Students honored, listed by hometown, were:

Carbondale

• Ricky A. Barr (2105 W. Partridge Lane), a junior, $1,000 Bill and Barbara Beck Accounting Scholarship. He is the son of Rick and Charlotte Barr of Lansing, N.C.

• Yan Er (1975 Evergreen Terrace Drive), graduate student, $1,000 Dr. C.Y. Kao Outstanding International Accounting Student Award.

• Enselme "Sam" Fandohan (514 S. Wall St.), $250 Kemper CPA LLP Outstanding Contribution to the School of Accountancy Award and $250 Accounting Circle Outstanding Senior in Accounting Award. He is the son of Henry and Nawomi Fandohan of Benin, West Africa.

• Justin Miller, $250 Ernst & Young LLP Outstanding Senior in Accounting Award.

• Zachary M. Weatherspoon (1181 E. Walnut), Federation of Schools of Accountancy Graduate Student Achievement Award. He is the son of Rosalind Davis of Waukegan and Keith Weatherspoon of Bloomington.

• Ya-Ting Yang (1195 E. Walnut), a senior, $1,000 Dr. C.Y. Kao Outstanding International Accounting Student Award.

Champaign

• Adrienne K. McPhee (2402 Morrissey Park Drive), a senior, $1,000 Edward J. Schmidlein Award. She is the daughter of Timothy and Marian McPhee.

Coulterville

• Crystal M. Longshore (346 State Route 13), graduate student, $250 Kemper CPA Group LLP Outstanding Contribution to the School of Accountancy Award.

Du Quoin

• Matthew S. Darnell, a junior, $500 Donald T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship. He is the son of Ron Darnell and Kris Aken of Du Quoin.

Herrin

• Benna R. Williams (1409 N. Park Ave), graduate student, $250 PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Outstanding Master's in Accounting Student Award. She is the daughter of Benny and Annie Rutherford of Karbers Ridge.

Marion

• LaDonna A. Smoot (1400 N. Goldenrod Drive), a senior, $1,000 Dr. Gola E. Waters Accounting Scholarship.

Oblong

• Jonathan T. Rosborough (5594 E. 450th Ave.), $250 PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Outstanding Senior in Accounting Award. He is the son of Bill and Pam Rosborough.

Okawville

• Joel B. Hundelt (204 S. Oak Lane), Deloitte & Touche LLP Outstanding Junior in Accounting Award. He is the son of Ron and Donna Hundelt.

Pinckneyville

• Eric D. Heine (5079 District 212 Road), a senior, $1,000 Susie E. Ogden Memorial Scholarship. He is the son of David and Darlene Heine.

St. Libory

• Brett A. Stehl (post office box listing), a junior, $500 Donald T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship. He is the son of Dennis and Kathy Stehl.

St. Louis

• Amanda Clifton, a junior, $500 James B. King II Memorial Scholarship. She is the daughter of Ron and Debbie Clifton.
