Specialized softball camps planned at SIUC

by Carmen Bell

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale's intercollegiate athletics will sponsor two specialized softball camps this summer.

Softball Hitting and Defense Camp will provide campers with personalized instruction at their defensive positions by utilizing many drills. In addition, campers will be given tips on how to improve their hitting and bunting skills. Campers will do station work with hitting and will have the opportunity to face a pitching machine, as well as a live pitcher.

This camp is for ages three-12 and is set for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13-14 at Charlotte West Stadium on the SIUC campus.

Pitching Camp will give campers drill work, as well as instructions on throwing specialized pitches. Pitching Camp is set for 1-3 p.m. July 5-6 at the SIUC Student Recreation Center.

Registration is $75 for one camp or $140 for both. The fee includes instruction, materials, a T-shirt and limited accident/injury camper medical benefits.
