Classes for entrepreneurs available at SIUC

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs will benefit from free seminars sponsored by the Small Business Development Center and the Southern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Seminars take place at SIUC's Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center, 150 E. Pleasant Hill Road, Carbondale. Attendance is free, but participants must register in advance. Call 618/536-2424 or e-mail sbdcal@siu.edu to register.

Here is a list of classes scheduled for the rest of the spring:

• How to Start Your Own Business – Tuesday, April 18, 6-8 p.m.; Friday, May 5, 9-11 a.m.; and Tuesday, May 16, 1-3 p.m.

• Business Plan Writing Workshop – Wednesday, April 10, 1-3 p.m.; Wednesday, May 10, 9-11 a.m.

• Show Me the Money! Selling Your Ideas to Banks and Investors – Tuesday, May 16, 3-5 p.m.

Enhancing economic development in the region is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint the University is following as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019.
