Twenty-five faculty members receive promotions
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Academic promotions have been awarded to 25 Southern Illinois University Carbondale faculty members. Promotions will take effect with next year's contract.
Tenure awards, ratified today (March 9) by the SIU Board of Trustees and effective Aug. 16, were granted to all 19 assistant professors receiving promotions. Two associate professors and a full professor also received tenure awards.
Here's a list of those who have moved up grouped by rank:
• From associate professor to professor: Bhaskar Bhattacharya, mathematics; Gregory Budzban, mathematics; Mark R. Dixon, Rehabilitation Institute; Leslie A. Duram, geography and environmental resources; Frances J. Harackiewicz, electrical and computer engineering; Reed E. Nelson, management; Michael C. Sullivan, mathematics; and Tomasz Wiltowski, mechanical engineering and energy processes.
• From assistant professor to associate professor: Jason P. Bond, plant, soil and agricultural systems; Eric C. Ferre, geology; Anthony T. Fleege, allied health; Leonard K. Gadzekpo, black American studies; Yong Gao, chemistry and biochemistry; J. Tobin Grant, political science; Bart J. Hammig, health education and recreation; Robert E. Holcombe, theater; Susan P. Liemer, law; Leslie F. Lloyd, allied health; Sherri M. Lukes, allied health; Patricia R. McCubbin, law; Faith Y. Miller, allied health; Michelle H. Miller, sociology; Wanki Moon, agribusiness economics; Lorelei E. Ruiz, aviation management and flight; Dwight R. Sanders, agribusiness economics; Janice I. Thompson, radio and television; and Heidi L. Williams, music.
In addition, Carl R. Flowers, associate professor in the Rehabilitation Institute, Hussein H. Soliman, professor in social work, and Wiltowski, currently an associate professor, received tenure.
