Media Advisory – Feb. 3 Grand Openings

  Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover two major grand openings at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on Friday, Feb. 3.

At 11 a.m., University and community leaders will mark the grand opening of the first new building in the Southern Illinois Research Park, on Pleasant Hill Road just east of U.S. Highway 51 south. SIU President Glenn Poshard, SIUC Chancellor Walter V. Wendler and Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Belleville, will be among the speakers.

At 1:15 p.m., the University will celebrate the grand opening of the Student Health Center, on Grand Avenue adjacent to the Student Recreation Center. Poshard, Wendler, Carbondale Mayor Brad Cole and other dignitaries will be among the speakers.
