Reporters and photographers are welcome to cover a lecture by Judy Shepard at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Student Center Ballrooms. Shepard is presenting the rescheduled keynote speech for Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Month. Her 21-year-old son, Matthew, was slain in October 1998 in a murder motivated by gay hatred. Illness forced postponement of Shepard's earlier appearance in October. The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, Saluki Rainbow Network, Student Development Multicultural Programs and Services and Student Center Special Programs and Center Events are sponsoring the lecture. Admission is free.
