Southern Illinois University Carbondale officials will break ground on the first new housing to be built on campus in 37 years at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. Chancellor Walter V. Wendler will be among the officials participating in the Wall and Grand Apartments. The site is on the northwest corner of Wall Street and Grand Avenue, just east of the new Student Health Center. Parking is available behind the Student Recreation Center. Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover the ground breaking.
