Media Advisory – Troutt-Wittmann Dedication

Dedication ceremonies for the new Troutt-Wittmann Academic and Training Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale are set for 11:30 a.m. on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 1. Speakers will include Chancellor Walter V. Wendler and other University officials, as well as Pete Wittmann, the SIUC alumnus who donated $4.5 million for the center and for scholarships. Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover the ceremony. The Troutt-Wittmann Academic and Training Center is immediately north of the SIU Arena and Lingle Hall.

In addition, tours of the new facility will be available to media representatives only on Friday, Sept. 30, with the understanding that video footage and photographs will be held until after the dedication ceremonies on Saturday. We are offering this option so that news directors and editors have more options in covering the event. The center will be open for public tours only after Saturday afternoon's football game.

Members of the media who are interested in scheduling an early peak tour on Friday should call Tom Weber, director of media services for SIUC athletics, at 618/453-7235 to schedule a time.
