Golf scramble will benefit paralegal studies

by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Before watching the Salukis play on Homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 1, you can take in a round of golf to benefit Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Paralegal Studies Program.

An 18-hole golf scramble will take place at the Union County Country Club near Anna. Money raised from the event will go to fund student scholarships and student activities, such as orientation and an honors banquet. A portion of the funds will start the Camille Hickman Scholarship, in memory of Camille J. Hickman, a 2001 SIUC paralegal studies program graduate who died Aug. 3, 2004, from injuries sustained in a July 2004 car accident.

Check-in is 7:45 a.m., with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.

The entry fee is $50 per person, or $200 per four-person team.

Anyone interested in playing, sponsoring a team, or sponsoring a hole should contact the paralegal studies program office at 618/453-1234.

Cultivating relationships is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint for the development of the University by the time it celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2019.
