Mills joins scholarly journal's editorial board

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Donald D. Mills, assistant professor of mathematics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is joining the editorial board of the journal "Cryptologia."

Board members may only join by invitation. The scholarly journal devotes its pages to all aspects of cryptology.

Computer security, codes and ciphers, mathematics, military science, espionage, literature, ancient languages and history are among the subject areas the journal covers.

Mills teaches classes on calculus, algebraic number theory, abstract algebra and more.

He earned his doctorate in mathematics at Clemson University in Georgia.

Recognizing faculty excellence is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the long-range plan the University is following as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019.
