Head Start - Media Advisory
Representatives from a number of local organizations will help Southern Illinois University Carbondale Head Start staff members get ready for the upcoming school year with an afternoon health fair that runs from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, in the Carbondale center's gymnasium, 1900 N. Illinois Ave.
Activities offered include chair massage, stress screening and trigger point therapy, developed by President John F. Kennedy's own doctor to treat his persistent back pain.
Trigger points — super-sore muscle spots that can send pain messages to other parts of the body — develop as a result of stress, injury or overuse. Untreated, they can cause persistent pain, weakness and decreased flexibility. Practitioners believe such trigger points may account for much of this country's lost work time.
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover the fair.
