SIUC news events for Feb. 20-26

News directors, editors and reporters covering Southern Illinois University Carbondale: To facilitate your planning for next week, here's a listing of events and activities scheduled on campus or that are University-related. We will provide these listings each Friday and are happy to help you arrange coverage.

Monday, Feb. 21

• Corporate executives will answer students' most common employment questions during a panel discussion set for 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Student Center Auditorium. The panel members belong to the College of Business and Administration Management Department Advisory Board.

Tuesday, Feb. 22

• More than 100 employers will be in the Student Center Ballrooms to discuss career and internship possibilities with students during Career Day. The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., should offer opportunities for a look at "hot" careers and the potential job market for this spring's graduates.

• Chancellor Walter V. Wendler will hold a "Your University, Your Community" discussion at the Harrisburg Middle School, 312 Bulldog Blvd., beginning at 7 p.m. This is the second stop in the ongoing series through which SIUC hopes to gain insight and feedback on various needs and expectations connected to higher education.

Wednesday, Feb. 23

• Illinois State Senate President Emil Jones, Jr. gives a free public lecture at 4 p.m. in Student Center Ballroom D. The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute is sponsoring the lecture, during which Jones will discuss issues in state government, education and civil rights.
