Screening of ‘Grand Illusion' set for Tuesday, Nov. 9
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- There is a change in the film scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 9, as part of a series offered by the Global Media Research Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Tuesday's audience will see "Grand Illusion," a poignant and lucidly insightful commentary on World War I in Europe. Filmed in 1937 under the looming advent of World War II, the film serves as a haunting elegy for the tragedy of World War I and a relevant cautionary tale on the immeasurable toll of war. Admission is free.
It begins at 7 p.m. in the Dean's Conference Room (Communications Building, Room 1032). The screenings begin with an introduction and end with 20 minutes of discussion and refreshments.
