School law conference set for Oct. 13
CARBONDALE, Ill. - - Issues such as The No Child Left Behind Act and "The Future of School Construction" are on the agenda for the Eighth Annual School Law Conference at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The conference takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the SIUC Student Center.
John Mannix, of the Illinois Association of School Boards, opens the conference with the keynote address, "NCLB: Nirvana or Armageddon - - A Philosophical Viewpoint." Luncheon speaker will be Anthony Rossi of the Illinois Capital Development Board, with "The Future of School Construction." Morning and afternoon breakout sessions will address "Superintendent Contracts: Tenure, Evaluation and Seniority"; "Policy and Procedures Update"; "Children's Mental Health Act"; "FOIA and Open Meetings Act"; "Conducting Investigations in the Schools"; and "To Accommodate or Not to Accommodate."
