Southern Illinois University Carbondale officials will discuss the significance of the new Student Health Programs construction project during a ceremonial groundbreaking set for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21. The 57,000-square-foot facility is under construction adjacent to the Student Recreation Center. Chancellor Walter V. Wendler, Larry H. Dietz, vice chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management, and Cheryl Presley, director of Student Health Programs, will be among the speakers. Student leaders also will discuss the importance of the new facility, which students are paying for through fees. Reporters and photographers can park in the lot behinds the Student Recreation Center (north side of the building). Access to the ceremony will be through a gate at the northeast corner of the construction site.
