SIUC to offer free business classes

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Aspiring entrepreneurs can take advantage of free classes this summer at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Small Business Development Center.

"How to Start Your Own Business" is a three-hour seminar that covers the basics of business start-up, including legal structure, governmental requirements and business plan basics. The third hour of the session will cover various financing opportunities for business start-up and expansion.

All classes take place in the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center, 150 E. Pleasant Hill Road. Here's the schedule:

  • Thursday, June 10, 6-9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 30, 9 a.m.-noon.
  • Tuesday, July 13, 1-4 p.m.
  • Friday, July 30, 9 a.m.-noon.
  • Monday, Aug. 9, 6-9 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 26, 1-4 p.m.
