Popular summer concert series opens June 17

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The 26th season of Sunset Concerts opens Thursday, June 17, on the steps of Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Shryock Auditorium.

The free concerts alternate between the steps of Shryock and Turley Park on Carbondale's west side on Thursdays during June and July.

Each concert begins at 7 p.m. Here's the schedule:

  • June 17: Urban Funk Ordinance, funk/rock, Shryock steps.

  • June 24: Cornmeal, bluegrass, Turley Park.

  • July 1: Ceili Rain, Irish rock, Shryock.

  • July 8: Ryan Adcock Band, folk/rock, Turley Park.

  • July 15: E.C. Scott, blues, Shryock.

  • July 22: Captain Soularcat, Southern rock, Turley Park.

  • July 29: Natty Nation, reggae, Shryock.

Concert sponsors include SIUC's Student Programming Council, Student Center Special Programs and Center Events, the City of Carbondale and the Carbondale Park District. The sponsors ask that concertgoers remember the rules: No underage drinking, no pets, no glass bottles and no kegs.
