SIUC offering two softball camps this summer

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Girls in grades two through 12 are eligible for a pair of specialized softball camps at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this summer. NCAA rules also allow graduating seniors to attend.

Here's the drill:

  • Hitting and Defense Camp will run June 15-16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Charlotte West Stadium, across from the Student Recreation Center.

  • Pitching Camp will take place July 6-8, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center.

Cost to attend will be $75 per camp or $140 for both and includes instruction, materials, a T-shirt and limited accident/injury camper medical benefits. Lunch is provided during Hitting and Defense Camp.

Camp staff includes Kerri Blaylock, Saluki softball head coach; Buddy Foster and Mark Cosgrove, Saluki softball assistant coaches; and many Saluki softball players.
