Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps commissioning ceremony is set for 3 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at SIUC’s Student Center. Eleven cadets will receive their commission.

Col. Joseph L. Heimann, a 1979 SIUC graduate, is the guest speaker. Heimann is the Staff Judge Advocate, Headquarters 12th Air Force, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. Heimann is deputy chief counsel for the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In addition to serving as guest speaker, Heimann will commission his daughter, Lisa A. Heimann, as an Air Force second lieutenant. Lisa Heimann is graduating earlier in the day with a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from the College of Agricultural Sciences. She will be assigned to Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
