Chancellor Walter V. Wendler will host a 6 p.m. banquet to honor Southern Illinois University Carbondale's "25 Most Distinguished Seniors" and two "Super Student Scholarship" recipients on Saturday, April 3.
Reporters and photographers may interview the award recipients, their families and University dignitaries at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center's International Lounge, just outside Ballroom D where the dinner will be held.
The Student Alumni Council, student chapter of the SIU Alumni Association, annually honors 25 SIUC seniors for their significant contributions to the University and Carbondale communities during their undergraduate years.
The organization also recognizes two outstanding juniors by awarding each a $500 scholarship. Recipients are selected for having enriched the University through their involvement in various facets of campus life.
The Student Alumni Council members raise funds for the scholarships.
The event, which recognizes the University's elite undergraduate students, is part of SIUC's Honors Day weekend activities.
