CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Students and alumni of Southern Illinois University Carbondale can purchase the only ring officially recognized by the University.

Orders for the official class ring, designed to provide students and alumni with a symbol to forever commemorate their college experiences, will be taken from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 10-12, at the University Bookstore in the SIUC Student Center.

The ring is also on display in the SIU Alumni Association offices, located on the second floor of the Student Center and Colyer Hall.

The SIU class ring was designed exclusively for those who meet the University's academic standards. Only SIUC alumni and students who have earned at least junior status by completing 56 credit hours at the University are eligible to order rings.

Class rings will be presented to students each spring at a ceremony hosted by the University and the Alumni Association during Honors Day weekend.

The ceremony will take place Friday, April 2, in the Student Center Auditorium. SIUC Chancellor Walter V. Wendler will present the rings to students who placed orders by Feb. 12.

Ring sales will help fund student and alumni programs coordinated by the SIU Alumni Association.
