Prospective students invited to Feb. 16 open house

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Prospective students and their families can see Southern Illinois University Carbondale in action during an open house set for Monday, Feb. 16.

Except for departmental and housing tours, all activities take place in the Student Center. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., with a welcome presentation set for 8:30 a.m. in Ballroom D. An 8:45 a.m. panel presentation covers the process of becoming a Saluki, from applying for admission to the first day of classes, also in Ballroom D.

Between 9:30 and 11 a.m. in Ballrooms A, B and C and the Gallery Lounge, guests may visit with representatives from student service agencies, including academic departments, Financial Aid, Career Services, University Housing, Student Development, ROTC, student organizations and more.

Prospective students may apply for admission or check admission status between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Ballrooms A, B and C. A discussion about opportunities for transfer students begins at 9:30 a.m. in Ballroom D, and at 10 a.m., current SIUC students will discuss their experiences on campus, also in Ballroom D.

At 10:30 a.m., a discussion session in the Student Center Auditorium will focus on opportunities for students unsure about a major.
