New online teaching degree program helps address teacher shortage

SIU Carbondale is launching a new online undergraduate program in elementary education this fall for working professionals, as part of its efforts to do everything possible to address teacher shortages. Also new this fall is an online teaching degree program in organizational learning, innovation and development (formerly workforce education and development.)

Journalist Ben Smith, co-founder of Semafor, a global digital news organization, will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute to discuss his views on the dramatically changing media landscape in a virtual conversation on Wednesday, June 28.


SIU’s Export Controls newsletter is available

The monthly SIU Export Controls newsletter for June 2023 is available. The newsletter provides a resource for current export control issues and events that could affect SIU and its faculty. This edition includes information on regulations for chemical and biological equipment, materials and technology. In addition, there are certain entities that SIU should not be working with due to national security or foreign policy concerns, and numerous new entities were added to the Entity List earlier this month.
