SIU Law expands to the Metro East

Beginning this month, third-year law school students will participate in the inaugural Metro East Criminal Justice Clinic at the Southwestern Illinois Justice and Workforce Development Campus in Belleville, the former Lindenwood University campus. Students will live and take classes on the campus while working at various state and federal offices in the region.


SIU to celebrate Diversity Week with John Quiñones, awards and other activities

Juan Manuel “John” Quiñones, ABC News correspondent, journalist and longtime host of “What Would You Do?” will be the keynote speaker as the university celebrates Diversity Week Aug. 29 to Sept. 2. Numerous free special events are planned for the week, themed “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Cultivating a Culture for a Stronger and United Campus.”


Message to our students about safety 

On Monday, Jeffery T. Burgin, Jr., vice chancellor for student affairs, and Benjamin Newman, chief of police and director of the Department of Public Safety, sent an email to students about enjoying themselves safely as the university prepares to start the fall semester. The message is titled “Have fun and stay safe.”


Saluki Pride: Sharon Hagene provides effective leadership as Extended Campus business manager

As the senior business manager for SIU’s Extended Campus, Sharon Hagene gives new meaning to the term multitasking, handling a variety of jobs very capably while creating a pleasant work environment, her colleagues say. Holly Tugiyanto, an accounting officer, notes Hagene is “a wonderful leader who is a big believer in cross-training. Workshop on research-related services is Monday 

All faculty are invited to a workshop on Monday, Aug. 22, that will acquaint them with services from the university’s research administrative offices. The workshop, set for noon to 1:30 p.m., in rooms 150-160 in the Student Services Building, will focus on services offered by the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (OSPA) and the Office of Research Compliance (ORC).


University Museum seeks submissions from women artists

University Museum is accepting applications for an upcoming exhibition showcasing the creations of women artists in the Southern Illinois region.


Digital signature virtual workshops available

The Office of Information Technology has a series of virtual workshops available for the university community to learn more about the new digital signature initiative on campus.

A guide to important, student-related policies, information and resources is online as a reference for all faculty, staff and students. Register now for SIU’s Rocky Ledges 5K/10K Trail Run

Registration is underway for the Sept. 17 Rocky Ledges 5K/10K Trail Run, a unique race that takes place among the beautiful, forested lakeside trails at the Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center. Everyone is welcome.
