A semester to remember

This weekend’s commencement ceremonies serve as our semiannual reminder to take a breath and reflect on the great things SIU is doing for its students and the community. 

Commencement exercises will celebrate success stories

Donald Cobb, Coleman Fitch and Sydne Rensing are three standout students who will join nearly 2,800 of their peers during graduation Friday and Saturday.


Flexible schedule summer program starts May 27

The university will offer an employee flexible schedule program again this summer. Employees may flex their hours in order to shorten a workday. The program will begin May 27 and continue through August 4.


Flying Salukis’ strong national tradition continues

Led by an individual title from senior co-captain Robert A. Kay in simulated comprehensive area navigation (SCAN), the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Flying Salukis finished third at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association championships.


View this month’s ‘Saluki Watch Dawg’

The Department of Public Safety’s May 2018 issue of the ‘Saluki Watch Dawg’ is available.

This month’s edition includes information on the department’s new “Whoosh!” mobile phone app to pay for parking, a safety survey, dating violence prevention tips, and a recap of the Special Olympics opening ceremony April 6 at Touch of Nature Environmental Center.


Benefit choice open enrollment underway

The State Employees Group Insurance Program Benefit Choice open enrollment period continues through May 31 for all eligible employees. 


Youths ages 12-18 welcome at SIU’s Fish U summer camp

The popular Fish U camp is back this year. The weeklong camp, Aug. 6-10, is filled with fun activities for youths ages 12-18.


SIU Today schedule change reminder

This is the last issue of SIU Today for the spring semester. After a short break, SIU Today will begin its summer schedule. Issues will come out once a week, each Thursday, beginning May 24.
