Saluki Pride: Susan Wills is a skilled business manager for the School of Education

Susan Wills is an outstanding business manager for the School of Education, an excellent role model and mentor for staff members and student workers, and widely respected among peers, said M Cecil Smith, dean of the school. SIU student wildlife biologist researches how coyotes’ and bobcats’ travels impact ecosystem

Under the supervision of Guillaume Bastille-Rousseau, an assistant professor in the Cooperative Wildlife Research Laboratory, Nicole Gorman, a graduate student in zoology and research assistant, is studying bobcat and coyote movement in Southern and Central Illinois and their impact on areas where they live.


Sunset Concert Series returns next week

The summer tradition of the Sunset Concert Series returns for six weeks of entertainment with Shawn Holt and the Teardrops at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 22. The concerts will alternate between Turley Park and the Shryock Auditorium steps through Aug. 26. Find out more about this year's concert schedule and locations.


Registration underway for SIU’s in-person open house on July 23

SIU will host its first in-person open house for prospective students since November 2019 on July 23. About 200 students and their guests – about 400 people in all – are expected to attend the free, daylong event. Based at the Banterra Center, the event for students who will be freshmen in fall 2022 or after, along with their families, will include tours, academic showcases, student panels, a resource fair, games and more. Submit Saluki Startup, Weeks of Welcome events now

New and returning students will soon be coming to campus for the fall semester and planning is well underway for Saluki Startup and Weeks of Welcome. Any campus organization, office, department or unit that is planning an event during this time period, Aug. 12-Sept. 25, should submit the event information on the form located at wow.siu.edu so it can be promoted on the website and the Saluki Superfan app. Submit information no later than 4:30 p.m. July 21 to be considered for inclusion on the WOW poster.
