Veteran higher ed professional to become SIU’s next associate chancellor of enrollment management 

Wendell Williams, who has extensive experience in growing enrollment at various institutions, will become the university’s next associate chancellor of enrollment management, pending approval by the SIU Board of Trustees.


SIU student researchers experiment with solar power and nanoparticles to fight algae blooms

A team of students, led by Jia Liu, assistant professor in the School of Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering, is looking at using the power of the sun, combined with iron-based nanomaterials, to destroy the harmful effects of algae blooms afflicting Campus Lake, a common problem throughout the country.


Celebrate SIU Night at Rent One Park in June

Faculty and staff are invited to share in the fun as the SIU Alumni Association hosts its inaugural SIU Night with the Southern Illinois Miners on June 25 at Rent One Park in Marion. The Miners face the Evansville Otters, with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.


COVID-19 vaccines available at Banterra Center

The Jackson County Health Department has scheduled COVID-19 vaccine clinics through May 22 at Banterra Center for any Illinois resident age 16 and older. This includes in-state and out-of-state SIU students with a university ID. Visit the health department’s website for more information.
