SIU to celebrate LGBTQ History Month 

The university will recognize October as LGBTQ History Month with a number of special activities and programs. More


Flu immunizations available

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) will be providing free flu immunizations for all active and retired SIU Carbondale employees, as well as surviving spouses who are enrolled in a state-sponsored health plan. The Jackson County Health Department will administer the immunizations twice in the upcoming weeks. More


SIU receives suicide prevention grant 

Dhrubodhi Mukherjee, associate professor and director of the School of Social Work’s Undergraduate program, has received a three-year grant to work with campus and off-campus groups to enhance existing suicide prevention efforts and create new programs at the university. More


Honorary degree/service award nominations due Oct. 24 

The deadline for honorary degrees and distinguished service award nominations is Monday, Oct. 24. Honorary degrees are presented to individuals who have made outstanding scholarly contributions or are of considerable renown in any field of activity. Distinguished Service Awards honor individuals who have contributed to Southern Illinois, the state, nation, world or the university. More


Frank Gambale headlines Guitar Festival 

Frank Gambale is the headlining guest at the university’s Guitar Festival 2016, Third Edition. More


Faculty/staff appreciation game is Oct. 8 

The university faculty and staff appreciation football game is Saturday, Oct. 8, when the Salukis host nationally ranked South Dakota State University at 6 p.m. at Saluki Stadium. More


Touch of Nature to present monthly event series 

A new monthly event series at Touch of Nature Environmental Center offers all the makings of a great time for the whole family: a campfire, special entertainment and the chance for visitors to experience the great outdoors as they learn more about it. More


Drone certification course is in November 

A two-day course in November will allow drone operators to gain Federal Aviation Administration certification to operate unmanned aircraft systems. More


Outdoor Adventures offers fall, winter excursions 

Two special opportunities to explore scenic America are available to students and community members through the university’s Outdoor Adventures during coming months. More
