SIU System Diversity and Inclusion Higher Education Conference is March 22-23

CARBONDALE, Ill. — “Navigating Professional Challenges and Building Opportunities: Creating a Global Citizenry” is the theme for the second annual System Diversity and Inclusion Higher Education Conference coming to Southern Illinois University Carbondale March 22-23.

The two-day conference is open to the public. The kick-off is from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 22 at the upper level of Grinnell Hall and the conference continues 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on March 23 at Morris Library.

Designed to educate and generate conversations

The goal of the conference is to raise awareness of diversity and inclusion issues by creating dialogue and offering educational, mentoring and networking opportunities.

The SIU System Board of Trustees and Office of the President are the lead sponsors for the event. Co-sponsors include the Black Staff and Faculty Council, the associate chancellor for diversity’s office and the College of Education and Human Services.

Register by March 21

The cost of the conference is $15 for students or $30 for anyone else. The deadline to sign up is March 21; there will be no on-site registration.
