SIU sponsoring free parenting workshops
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Being a good parent isn’t always easy but Southern Illinois University Carbondale is sponsoring a series of free parenting workshops filled with helpful information.
The workshops are from 10:30 to 11 a.m., the first Friday of each month at the Carbondale Public Library, 405 W. Main Street, No pre-registration is required. The workshops are courtesy of the Child Behavior Research and Training Laboratory, a unit of the College of Education and Human Services.
The Schedule
Each week will focus on a different relevant topic. The schedule includes:
- March 2 – Managing bedtime difficulties
- April 6 – Improving social skills
- May 4 – Managing challenging behavior
Learn from experience
Erica Jowett Hirst, assistant professor of behavior analysis and therapy at SIU, will lead the sessions. She is a doctoral-level board certified behavior analyst and a child behavior specialist with more than 15 years of experience working with children and parents.
