Forum on state’s budget issues is tonight

The university will host an Illinois Issues forum on the state budget at 6 p.m., today, Thursday, Oct. 26, in Student Center, Ballroom B. The event is free and open to the public. 

The forum is an opportunity to discuss and examine the impact of the state’s two-year budget impasse, the impact on the region, and Illinois’ financial future. This is the 10th of 11 scheduled forums. The forum is a collaboration of WSIU Public Radio, NPR Illinois and AARP Illinois.

 Panel guests include:

  • Brent Clark - executive director, Illinois Association of School Administrators
  • Sherrie Crabb - executive director, Family Counseling Center, Inc.
  • Connie Favreau - director of project development, Shawnee Health Service
  • Marleen Shepherd - Sparrow Coalition
  • Jak Tichenor - interim director, Paul Simon Public Policy Institute 

Sean Crawford, NPR Illinois news director, will moderate the event. 

Refreshments will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m.
