Treasures await at Book, Classic Vinyl and Media Sale

CARBONDALE, Ill. – A variety of treasures await those who attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Book, Classic Vinyl and Media Sale, set for Sept. 22-23.

Sponsored by the Friends of Morris Library and WSIU, the sale in the Student Center ballrooms will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 23. On Saturday, the book sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. while the vinyl/media sale continues until 6 p.m.

Admission is free. Proceeds from the sale benefit Morris Library and its programs and WSIU Public Radio's programming, services, and community engagement activities. 

Throughout the summer, organizers have collected donations of books, vintage albums, electronic games, audio books, CDs, tapes and DVDs, along with gently used stereo equipment.

The sale will feature biographies, mysteries, classic literature, fiction novels and books about history, gardening, crafts, home repair, travel, cooking, philosophy, political science and more. A wide variety of electronics, CDs, DVDs and other such items will be available for purchase as well.

Donations will be accepted until Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Murdale True Value in Carbondale, Wright Do-It Center in Murphysboro, the Du Quoin Public Library, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce office in Mt. Vernon, the Olney and Richland County Chamber of Commerce Office in Olney, all SIU Credit Union locations and Morris Library.
