Two remain as finalists for SIU Chancellor
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Two finalists remain for the position of chancellor of Southern Illinois University Carbondale following the withdrawal of two other candidates for the position.
SIU System President Randy Dunn said that Rodney Hanley of Fisk University and George Hynd of Oakland University both withdrew themselves from consideration over the weekend. Hanley cited fiscal concerns at both the state and campus level, and Hynd indicated his intention to accept another position that was offered to him.
They were among four candidates who interviewed Thursday, June 15, with SIU’s Board of Trustees following earlier interviews on campus.
The remaining two finalists are Interim Chancellor Brad Colwell and Carlo Montemagno of the University of Alberta in Canada.
“Under the board’s direction, I will continue to move the search process forward and complete contract negotiations,” Dunn said. “I hope we may be able to announce the selection for chancellor at some point even prior to the next board meeting.”
