University Museum offers research fellowship

The University Museum is seeking proposals from current university faculty who are interested in curating an exhibition for the museum’s upcoming exhibition schedule.

Rachel Gordon Fishoff, a writer, art mentor and longtime University Museum patron, will annually fund a $1,000 fellowship for an SIU Carbondale faculty member to do research in the University Museum’s collection with the purpose of producing a public exhibition.

University Museum has 70,000 objects in its history, art, ethnographic and science collections. Proposals are welcome from all faculty members.

Proposals should be no more than 500 words, describing the kind of exhibition to be curated. In addition, applicants need to include their CVs that lists prior experience. People who are not familiar with the museum’s collection may contact Susannah Munson at smunson@siu.edu to visit the archive.

Proposals should be mailed to Alison Erazmus, curator of exhibits, at aerazmus@siu.edu by April 15.
