UWPA Mentorship Award nominations sought

University Women’s Professional Advancement (UWPA) is seeking nominations for the 2017 UWPA Mentorship Awards.

The awards recognize campus individuals who have demonstrated a sustained, campus-wide commitment to the advancement of women. The awards are for individuals who have specifically provided professional development support for junior faculty, A/P and Civil Service staff, and SIU students as a significant part of their service to the university community.

Award recipients will be honored at the Celebrate Women’s Scholarship Fundraising Reception on March 30. The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. in Morris Library.

The organization is particularly interested in recognizing individuals who, through their actions and leadership, have firmly supported female colleagues and the campus-wide cultivation of inclusive excellence by providing opportunities, training and/or encouragement to women in instances outside of their job requirements.

Any individual employed for at least three years at SIU Carbondale is eligible award consideration. Mentoring awards will be given in the following categories: faculty, administrative professional, and civil service.

Nominations are accepted from any individual within the university community.

Nomination packets must include:

  • A nomination letter that provides a clear description of those activities and contribution for which the person is recommended (maximum two pages).
  • A minimum of two or maximum of three letters of support for the nomination. Each letter should be no more than two pages.
  • The nominee’s current resume/CV.

Nominations are due by Feb. 10. Please send completed nomination packets electronically to Carol Jackson at cjackson@siu.edu. For more information, contact Jackson at 453-1099.
