Presentation to examine the impact of the Zika virus
A discussion this week at the SIU School of Law will center on the Zika virus.
The United Nations Association USA, Southern Illinois Chapter and the law school will sponsor the presentation, “The Global Health and Social Policy Threat of the Zika Virus,” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Hiram H. Lesar Law Building, Room 202.
Bart Hagston, director of the Jackson County Health Department’s Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness, will speak. The presentation will include a discussion on the virus, how it spreads, and ways that the public can prepared. Also presented will be state and federal responses to the virus, comparative health approaches, and the level of concern by the United Nations and international non-governmental organizations.
