Upcoming CAStLE sessions scheduled

There are three Conversations About Student Learning and Engagement (CAStle) sessions scheduled for November and December. 

CAStLE is a professional learning community for curricula and co-curricular faculty and staff to meet to share ideas, successes, and struggles related to student learning and engagement and assessment. Meetings will be from noon to 1 p.m. The meetings will be in Morris Library, rooms 752 and 754.   

Meeting dates, topics and presenters are: 

  • Thursday, Nov. 17 – “Using Co-Curricular Opportunities to Engage Learners in the Academic Process,” Kim Little, director of undergraduate online student services, College of Business, assessment fellow, and Alicia Guebert, recruitment, retention and internship coordinator, College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, assessment fellow. 
  • Dec. 7 – “Using the SIU Advantage to Connect Faculty, Staff and Students in Outcome-Focused Programming,” Deborah Barnett, assistant dean of students, Student Affairs, adult, veteran, family, & commuter services. 
  • Dec. 15 – “Cultural Competency: Dealing with Diversity,” Randy Burnside, deputy associate provost, associate professor, Department of Political Science.
