Free flu immunizations still available
Faculty or staff unable to attend the recent flu shot clinics on campus may visit the Jackson County Health Department until Dec. 15 to receive their free immunizations.
The Illinois Department of Central Management Services provides the immunizations.
All active and retired SIU Carbondale employees, as well as surviving spouses enrolled in a state-sponsored health plan are eligible. Immunizations are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The health department is at 415 Health Department Road, Murphysboro.
Additional information on the requirements is available here.
The health department can bill most private insurance plans. If you have a dependent or dependents who would like to receive a flu vaccine, bring a copy of their insurance card to the clinics. You may call 618/684-3143, ext. 119, to verify if the private health insurance is accepted. Cash, check, or Illinois Medicaid is also accepted. Credit and debit cards are accepted only at the health department.
Visit the health department website or contact them at 684-3143, ext. 517, for additional information.
