Echo 360 is available this fall

Faculty will have the addition of Echo360 for use with online and live classroom lectures this fall.

Since fall 2015, the Center for Teaching Excellence has been working with faculty on campus to test the new Echo360 application, and the university decided this spring to purchase a site license.  The existing license with Panopto lecture capture will expire in November and not renewed.

Similar to Panopto, Echo360 will allow faculty to record lectures while also offering many other features that can help increase and monitor student engagement in the classroom.

With Echo360, instructors can take polls, surveys, or give quizzes to students, receiving instant feedback during their lecture.  Echo360’s many features also include confusion flags, discussion capabilities, and note-taking options for your students, all while providing custom analytics to the instructor in a format that is completely integrated within the SIUonline system.

For instructors who already have recordings made with Panopto, you will find it easy to download your videos for your personal collection, and then upload them into your new private Echo360 library. Click here for printable instructions.

For a personal demonstration, or to request and set-up an Echo360 account, contact Jeff Garner in the Center for Teaching Excellence at jgarner@siu.edu.  Please provide first and last name, as well as your siu.edu email address.
