University Communications and Marketing earns national honors
University Communications and Marketing is among the national winners in an educational advertising competition sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report.
The honors were announced during the 31st annual Educational Advertising Awards on March 1. It is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country, with more than 2,000 entries received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries this year. Judging was by a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of the Higher Education Marketing Report.
Rae Goldsmith, chief marketing and communications officer, said she is especially proud that virtually all of the award-winning work was developed – from concept to implementation – by the department’s in-house university professionals.
The awards, categories and entry titles were:
Gold: Logo, “SIU Carbondale Eclipse Logo”
Silver: Annual report, “SIU Foundation Annual Report”
Bronze: New media: “SIU Carbondale Responsive Website”
Merit: Total advertising, “SIU Carbondale Experience Campaign”
Merit: Outdoor, “SIU Carbondale ‘Experience’ Billboard Campaign”
Merit: Publication external, “SIU Alumni Magazine”
The department also earned awards in the separate Education Digital Marketing Awards, a smaller, newer national competition sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report.
