Rocky Ledges 5K Trail Run set for April 23

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Registration is now underway for the fourth annual Rocky Ledges 5K Trail Run taking place April 23 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center. 

All ages are welcome to participate in the run through the grounds of the center, located along Little Grassy Lake, about eight miles south of Carbondale on Giant City Road.  Registration and check-in begin at 8 a.m. and the race kicks off at 9 a.m. in the Camp 2 area. The awards presentation will follow. 

All participants will receive awards, with the racing brackets and awards divided by age groups. Within the set age groups, the top three male and female runners, as well as the overall winner, will earn recognition at the awards ceremony. 

The cost is $20 when registering in advance and that covers the entry fee, a race T-shirt, awards and light snacks. Register online at www.rockyledges5k.siu.edu or at www.active.com (search for Rocky Ledges.) Or, sign up at the Member Services Center on the upper level of the Student Recreation Center at SIU. 

Participants may also register the day of the Rocky Ledges 5K Trail Run but the cost is $5 more and T-shirts will be available in limited quantities for late registrants.
