by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Three members of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host a “2016 Presidential Election Luncheon” on Monday, Nov. 16, in the Saluki Stadium Club to examine the upcoming battle.

The luncheon, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is free and open to the public, but space is limited.  Lunch is included and advance registration is required. The registration deadline for lunch is Thursday, Nov. 12. Email rsvp@paulsimoninstitute.org or call 618/453-4004 to register.

David Yepsen, institute director, and John Jackson and Charles Leonard, visiting institute professors, will discuss the candidates and the current nomination battles.

“This lunch is a chance for political lovers to get together and share insights,” Yepsen said. “John Jackson will review his scholarly work on the history of the presidential nomination process; Charlie Leonard will examine the state of the race in recent polls, and I’ll look at the campaign in the Iowa caucuses and the early stages.”

For more information on the program, contact the institute at 618/453-4009 or visit http://paulsimoninstitute.siu.edu/.
