Polyhedra researcher to visit in November
Wayne Deeter, one of the foremost researchers of roundest polyhedra, will visit campus next week, conducting lectures, workshops and demonstrations as Morris Library Artist-in-Transit.
Deeter will demonstrate the fascinating beauty of these polyhedra, explore their remaining intriguing puzzles, and highlight their connections with mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, and design.
An opening reception will be in the library’s first floor rotunda from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2. Deeter will follow with a presentation in the library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium that begins at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be available.
Models of the polyhedra will be on display at the reception. Deeter will be available throughout the week to discuss his work and learn more about these polyhedra.
