Immigration/employment seminar is Oct. 15
Immigration attorney Thomas J. Arkell will present immigration information for faculty, staff, and students during a seminar at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, in the SIU School of Law’s Hiram H. Lesar Building courtroom.
Seminar topics will include tips for transitioning from OPT (Optional Practical Training) to H-1B visas and issues relating to the “H-1B cap” and timing. Other topics will include applications for permanent residence, or “Green Cards;” NIW (National Interest Waiver) petitions; outstanding professor or researcher and extraordinary ability petitions; change of status, dependents and travel issues, along with immigration and employment considerations from an employer's perspective.
