Gender-based violence training sessions available

The Office of Diversity and Equity, along with the Department of Public Safety, is offering Gender-based Violence Training. The training goals are to define gender-based violence and consent, to discuss the different types of gender-based violence, and to engage in interactive scenarios to aid in comprehension of the information presented.

This training is recommended but not required, and is geared towards students. This training is not Federal Compliance/Violence against Women Act (VAWA) Training.

There are policies regarding gender-based violence for university employees and students.

The Office of Diversity and Equity, along with Counseling and Psychological Services, is also offering Bystander Intervention Training. This training is offered to all students and provides students with information on how to be productive and effective bystanders in emergency and non-emergency situations.  This training is recommended, but is no longer required for students.

For more information, including training dates and times, visit ode.siu.edu or the university’s events calendar.
