Workman named university registrar
Tamara L. Workman was named director of the Office of the Registrar, effective June 1.
Workman had been serving in the position on an interim basis since August 2014, and was chosen after a national search. As director, Workman will also continue to oversee Transfer Student Services, where she has served as director since October 2009, which will be merged and integrated into the Office of the Registrar.
The Registrar’s Office provides administrative services and academic support to current students, the campus community, as well as prospective and former students.
Workman has been with the university since the late 1990s. Prior to serving as director of Transfer Student Services, she was chief academic adviser for the College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA), an academic adviser with the School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies, and a graduate assistant in student support services in CASA. She started at the university as extra help in the School of Law.
Workman earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Technologies from SIU Carbondale in 1999, and a Masters of Education in Instructional Design, also from the university, in 2001.
